By Kara Murphy, Macaroni KID July 24, 2023

Looking to add some excitement to your family's summer? Look no further! We've rounded up five fantastic free events from July 26 to Aug. 2 that promise a world of fun and learning for kids and families alike. From cooking up delicious treats to diving into the wonders of science and magic, there's something here for everyone:

1. Get Cooking: Make Zucchini Muffins

Big Y World Class Market is hosting a series of summer cooking classes virtually. This week's class is called Mastering Measuring with Zucchini Muffins. Perfect timing for my family — we've harvested six zucchini just this week, and there's more on the way! Register now for this free class to receive an ingredient list in advance!

2. Create Magical Sensory Jars

Create a sensory jar meant to calm children. This free and virtual class, hosted by EarlyON Virtual, will also discuss, in kid-appropriate language, ways to express and regulate emotions.

3. Warm Up for the Weekend with Virtual Yoga

Yoga-tastic! The Pikes Peak Library District is hosting a free and virtual yoga class for kids that you can attend from anywhere in the country!

4. Abracadabra! Create Magic with Science

STEAM fun ahead: If you love magic and you love science, then this is the class for you! In this free and virtual class, students will join scientist Dr. Wendy Bohon to learn several “magic tricks” they can perform to blow the minds of friends and family – and they’ll learn the scientific principles that make those tricks work, too.

5. National Night Out

National Night Out, observed annually on the first Tuesday of August, is a night for community building. Find an event near you and meet your neighbors!
